Vereeniging action

Hi all, Went to Leeuhof yard this weekend. What I found was a verystill Sunday morning. On the diesels side of the depot, 3 class 36 diesels were being prepared for the days shunting, which only included going to Meyerton yard and assembling a 100 wagon empty train for its return to the manganese mines at Hotazel. 4 class 10E locomotives were parked and next to them two class 18Es. No action in the yard this morning, two class 6E1 locomotives were also staged in the yard waiting for a new assignment. The yard were full of cement wagons as always. Also found an old shunter wagon between the rows of scrapped wagons. On my way back near Redan caught two class 35 locomotives heading to Vereeniging which were too fast for my camera, I noticed the last loco was 35-427.N ot sure where they were heading to as they don't use the class 35s at Leeuhof.

Water and industrial train shots, wonderful.

Sheltam Virginia

J&J have supplied some wonderful pictures from the various mines in the Free State. Thanks chaps, some dramatic scenes captured.

Vereeniging

Went to the Leeuhof locomotive depot on 24/04/2011 in the loco area, found 1 class10E and a 6E1 locomotive waiting for a new assignment. A class 36 locomotive stood idling as well. The yard was not busy at all, the only action was 3 class 6E1 locomotives that were parked under overhead wires that were broken off, this happened only a few minutes before I arrived. The pantographs did not make proper contact and seems like it burned the overhead wires off. On my way back, I stopped at Redan and to my surprise 5 class 34 diesel came flying by with a long load of empty wagons from Botswana Railways, heading to the Meyerton site.
Regards.
